Women’s World Fitness Center History

Opened August 1998, Tom Miller, Paul Giuntini & Frank Matranga opens Women’s World Fitness Center, offering a place for women to exercise and relax, without the distractions of a co-ed facility. In 2004, Tom Miller & Paul Giuntini sold their shares of ownership and Arlene de Guzman-Alpuerto became a shareholder. Women’s World is currently owned by F. Matranga and A. Alpuerto.

Arlene Alpuerto
MS Exercise Science, NASM CPT, CES, TRX, NASE L2, CFL1, Certified Takano Olympic weightlifting coach; USAW – Sports Performance Coach.

Co-owner/managing partner and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Arlene always played sports growing up, so naturally, fitness was the ideal field for her to get into.  With a BS in Health/Wellness/Sport Management and a MS in Exercise Science, with emphasis on Rehab. Sciences, Arlene has almost 20 years experience.   

Arlene is a corrective exercise specialist and has experience working with all populations with sport specific movements, injury prevention, as well as general health and fitness clients. She enjoys working with athletes for better performance, and as a movement coach.  Arlene enjoys Crossfit as a stress reliever. She also completed an internship with hall of fame coach Bob Takano in the sport of Olympic weightlifting.
Asti Silos

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Asti has been devoted to fitness slice 1975. She competed in various fitness and figure competitions for two years and won “MISS Fitness Germany” in 1990. After moving to the United States, she did fitness and print modeling while continuing to work as a personal trainer and working for a supplement and vitamin company, Met-RX.

Prior to joining the Women’s World team, Asti had clients at Gold’s Gym in

Venice, CA for over 10 years and worked with clients at Universal Studios for 5 years. She has been with Women’s World Fitness Center since 2000. Asti enjoys bodybuilding, traveling and being with animals. She lives in South Pasadena with her pit bull Roxy, who is lean and mean and very, very sweet!
Kerri Lumbert

MS Kinesiology Registered Kinesiotherapist

Kerri has a BS of Science in Kinesiology with a major in Kinesiotherapy and a minor in Psychology.  In order to become a Registered Kinesiotherapist, Kerri performed a six-month internship at the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Long Beach. Kerri brings her experience working with persons with diagnoses such as post cerebrovascular accident (CVA),

Parkinson’s disease, Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Hypertension, Diabetes, and Autism to name a few and heads our Active Aging Program.

A competitive swimmer as a teenager, Kerri returned to swimming after a 15-year hiatus away and re-entered the competitive world via Master’s swimming.
My number one priority for every client is honoring a person individually I must listen, learn, and respect who they are, how they got to where they are now, what scares them, what excites them and cultivate this information into the suggested program and in how I connect with them.

A Michigan native, Stacy went to college in San Francisco, taught English in China, and then settled in L.A.

After being certified with NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) and taking another certification course through WITS. Stacy adheres to a science-based training program tailored for the client to use their time and energy as efficiently as possible.

Stacy’s training philosophy is “Our health is made up of many different habits, I believe in making the process as dynamic and fun as possible”. Stacy also instructs Girl Power and Spin classes at Women’s World Fitness Center.

Jacqueline “Jack” Taylor
Jacqueline “Jack” Taylor

Jack was born in South Bend Indiana and has been in the Health and Fitness field for nine years. She graduated with a national certification from the National Personal Training Institute (NPTI) in Corona Del Mar, CA and completed 500 Hours of classroom studies. Jack interned at a private gym in Corona Del Mar, CA and at Bally’s Total Fitness in Rosemead, CA. She is certified in Bosu Ball Stretching and

the Foam Roller.

Jack enjoys helping people reach their fitness goals and obtain healthy lifestyles. When not at work, she loves watching and playing football, basketball, volleyball, softball, golf, and soccer. She also likes rollerskating, skateboarding and watching the Olympics.

Jayleen Ikehara

BS Kinesiology

Jayleen was born in Lihue, Kauai and graduated from California State Polytechnic University with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology-Sports Medicine, with an emphasis in Athletic Training. She started working as a Physical Therapy Aide/Assistant at Brea Community Hospital and at Fortanasce Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Clinic. She enjoys working with people who have any

kind of sports related injuries. Watching her clients achieve their goals while in therapy makes her feel good about the work she does to help others every day in her work environment

Jayleen has been a trainer for more than 10 years and is a certified Physical Therapy Aide She is certified in the Gravity Training System and has experience in Senior Fitness, Pre-Natal Water Aerobics, and as an Athletic Trainer for the Los Angeles Amazons, a team in the Women’s Football League.

Outside of work, Jayleen enjoys snowboarding, working out, biking and cooking.

Lea is an enthusiastic and energetic person whose focus of study was Kinesiology with an emphasis in Rehabilitation and Therapeutic exercises. Being a person who can provide precise guidance and a keen heart to motivate others to become physically fit and active she felt she has chosen a right career path.

Fortunately, while doing her undergraduate program at California State University Los Angeles she was involved in a program called Mobility Center where she had the privilege of working with numerous clients with various physical impairments. Lea had to alter few exercises to make her clients accomplish their goals and it did pay off.

Lea would like to share her knowledge with others in order to help others to achieve their mobility goals and fitness by providing exercises based on their limitations and abilities in order to lead a happier and healthier life

Melissa Crown
Melissa Crown

Melissa grew up in the San Gabriel Valley and was the top graduate of her classes at both Pasadena City College and Cal Poly Pomona.   She received her personal training certification through NASM – National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Melissa has been in the health and fitness industry since 2000, teaching aquatic fitness at local gyms.  Over the years she has gained a loyal following

for being one of the top aqua instructors in the area, as well as teaching indoor cycling and muscle conditioning.  Her unique style motivates and encourages her students and clients to make the most of their workouts.

With this hands-on experience, Melissa is able to apply important principals of self-myofascial release (foam rolling),  static and dynamic stretching as well as strength and cardiovascular training to create well-rounded and functional training programs for her clients.

She has experience working with several types of clients with various fitness levels ranging from highly athletic clients who do martial arts to seniors with osteoporosis, knee and hip replacements, to college students and office workers who spend most of their time sitting at a computer or reading and studying.
In her free time, Melissa enjoys bike riding, organic gardening, cooking, and wine tasting, and holds an Introductory Sommelier certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers.
